Finding the Ranch from Deer Lodge Get on I-90 and take interstate I-90 West towards Deer Lodge. Go through Deer Lodge and look for the exit that says Helena/Avon Hwy 12 and take that exit. You will come to a stop/yield sign and you will want to take a right onto Hwy 12 going towards Helena/Avon. When you get to Avon you will want to take a left (you will go over rail road tracks) on to Hwy 141 to Helmville. If you see the Avon Café on your right then you have gone too far. Take Hwy 141 for about 20 minutes and you will see a sign that says Helmville Hwy 271 and take a left at this sign. If you end up at a stop sign/Hwy 200 then you have gone too far. When you have taken the left off of Hwy 141 on to Hwy 271 you will go about 2 miles which will take you through Helmville. You will pass the Copper Queen bar on your left and then the Catholic Church which is also on the left, go a little further and you will see a wooden sign on your right that says Helmville community church (there’s a brown building behind it). Directly in front of the sign is a dirt road, you want to take a right on that dirt road. Take a right in front of that sign onto a dirt road. Follow that road approx 2 – 2.5 miles (it will make a 90 degree turn to the left and then a 90 degree turn to the right) and we are the 1st ranch you come to. The ranch is on the right; you will see some white houses and a big red horse barn and red grain elevator(see picture below). The office/bunkhouse is located to the right in the 2 story white building directly past the grain elevator as you are driving down the driveway. Finding the Ranch from Missoula Get on I-90 and take interstate I-90 East towards Butte. Go through all the Missoula exits until you come to the Bonner/Highway 200 Exit about 9 miles down I-90. You want to get off at the Bonner/Mill town/ Highway 200 exit. Go through Bonner ( you will see a big truck stop on your right) and through Mill town ( you will see a big saw mill on your left). You will then enter a canyon and the speed limit will increase to 65. Keep going on this road (Highway 200). Travel approximately 60 miles up Hwy 200 (East). You will go past Clearwater Junction ( it is the turn off to Seeley Lake and they have a huge statue of a cow out front); You will go past Ovando (It is exactly 13 miles past the Clearwater Junction of Hwy 83.) Once you go past Ovando you are going to go about another 10 – 13 miles. You will come down a hill and on your right will be a sign that says Helmville (Hwy 141) and there will be a bridge. Take that right onto Hwy 141, cross the bridge and go approximately another 5 miles. On your right you will see a sign that says Helmville (Hwy 271) (Avon is straight ahead). Take the right into Helmville onto Hwy 271. You will then go approximately 2 miles ( going through the town of Helmville) until you see a wooden sign on your right that says Helmville Community Church and behind it is the church. Take a right in front of that sign onto a dirt road. Follow that road approx 2 – 2.5 miles ( it will make a 90 degree turn to the left and then a 90 degree turn to the right) and we are the 1st ranch you come to. The ranch is on the right; you will see some white houses and a big red horse barn and red grain elevator. The offices are located to the right in the 2 story white building directly past the grain elevator as you are driving down the driveway. |
